A Jpeg is an image format like a GIF or a PING and very similar to a GIF as it can compress image data to a small size making them ideal for webpages as the small file size will load quicker and use less Bandwidth.
Jpeg images can store thousands of colours making them ideal for photographs and this is were they differ from GIF images as they can only store 256 colours.
Java
Java is a programming language widely found on many websites across the internet. The reason it is so popular is that it is very compatible with many different platforms.
Java is great for adding content to web pages such as interactive / animated menu’s, fade in/out page effects, real time clock / calendar etc.
