RAM
Random Access Memory
Ram is the main memory unit in Laptops. When running a program or software this is were all the data for that program is stored.
Your Laptops system can access any part of this memory at any time and it is know as a Volatile memory which means it is power dependent which in turn means that is you turn off the power to your computer all the data in the RAM will be lost.
RAID
Redundant Array Of Independent Disks
Raid, which is also known as ‘Redundant Array Of Inexpensive Disks’ is a hard disk technology used for the speeding up of data transfer.
This is created by using 2 or more hard disks simultaneously achieving vastly improved performance, reliability and the ability to process / store very large volumes of data.
ROM
Read Only Memory
Rom is a memory system that unlike Ram it is not volatile so should you turn the power off to your Laptops that data will still be stored and not lost.
A typical rom system for example would be your computers BIOS system which uses its ROM base to store all its settings for each time you turn on (boot up) your Laptop.
